Business environments have experienced a rapid increase the volume of data that is collected, stored, managed, and analyzed in recent years. To be useful, this data must be analyzed and transformed into information and actionable knowledge. The graduate certificate in Business Analytics with Big Data provides students with business analytics knowledge and skills necessary in the modern data-centric business environment. Students learn to apply descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics techniques to business decision-making with an emphasis on predictive analytics and data analysis. In addition, students gain a working knowledge of data management methods.

Conduct organizational studies and evaluations, design systems and procedures, conduct work simplification and measurement studies, and prepare operations and procedures manuals to assist management in operating more efficiently and effectively. Includes program analysts and management consultants.

Featured Courses
This course addresses advanced business analytics techniques and the application of such techniques to large data sets. Some alternative business analytics strategies are introduced. Descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models are included. Topics covered in this course include data visualization and exploration, cluster analysis, and developing and calibrating predictive models for big data. Applications of multivariate, logistic, and probit regression to business analytics are discussed. Software packages such as SAS/JMP/SPSS may be used. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in BNAL 306 and a declared major in the University or permission from the Dean's Office.
